At first glance, it’s obvious that the Maxxis High Roller II Exo Tire has a downhill background. While it’s billed as an XC or all-mountain tire, this is no weight-weenie race tire designed for folks who toss and turn at night, worried about grams and rolling resistance. The High Roller II is an aggressive tire, designed to rail white-knuckle turns down sketchy, steep sections of singletrack. However, despite its aggressive appearance, the High Roller II is a legitimate all-mountain or aggressive XC tire with the low weight and pedal-ability to support this claim. With its sharp, aggressive side lugs, the High Roller II is easily recognized. These lugs are a softer compound than the aggressive center lugs, which are designed for braking or accelerating, depending on whether the tire is on the front or the back of the bike. The 60tpi casing with EXO protection keeps the weight down, and the tires are tubeless-ready.
