Petzl designed the Spatha Knife to specifically address a climber's needs. The combo blade easily saws through rope and cordellette when we need to make an emergency anchor and effortlessly slices through meats and cheeses back at camp. The blade features a notch for easy opening with a bare hand, while the handle features a textured wheel for opening with gloves on. However we open it, the locking mechanism keeps it open, so we're cutting through cord, not our own fingers. When not in use, we slot it onto a carabiner and clip it to our harness.
