It's insulated with ultralight, ultra-lofty 800-fill down to provide a surprising amount of warmth for how little the short weighs. The thin ripstop shell is quilted to keep the insulation from shifting around. There are zippers down the side so you can put the short on and take it off in the middle of the ascent or descent.
