A secant ogive and optimum boattail design further enhance the bullet's streamline, aerodynamic shape to reduce drag, minimizing bullet drop and wind drift. Hornady constructs their ELD-X Rifle Bullets with a thin jacket at the tip to initiate expansion, and a thicker jacket at the base combined with an Interlock® ring to keep the core and jacket together and control expansion for optimum weight retention and deep penetration.
