Love mine and will buy again
This review is for an adv skin vest from 2024. I love the vest. It does everything it needs to. I’ve used it regularly on trail runs up to 40km as well as 2x 8 hour adventure races and a24 hour AR. There can be some neck chafing, I use body glide to prevent it unless shirt is high enough. Pack does not slosh around like my old camelback backpacks. Really appreciate the comfort and how the weight is distributed. Really like how the straps work. Was concerned about their durability but they have been flawless. The fabric around the zippers is very thin and has torn. Logos (reflective?) quickly detached and the teal color (only thing available locally) has stained and cannot be cleaned well. Look at those small issues as battle scars. Will not hesitate to buy again, despite that price tag! Ouch. Definitely buy the 12 over the 5. The vest has tighteners to reduce the size to eliminate bounce.

Play Your Old Stuff!
The previous ADV SKIN that I purchased was the 2017 version and I did not realize how much I took it for granted until trying more recent iterations. I've since gotten away from running in a vest, but the 2024 AS12 reminds me a lot of the 2017 version that I fell in love with. The notable updates that I really like are the angled bottle necks, the sewn divider between the front and side stash pockets, and the soft stretch internal pocket to divide lighter items. Pocket optimization is a noticeable improvement in this version to help items ride better and stay where you want them. Still no bounce, the load tensioners wrap your core in the right places without being restrictive, and the moveable quicklinks really let you dial in your personal fit. I do feel like this version runs on the small side. I am 6' 155lbs and used to wear a small, but in this version I should have grabbed a medium to allow for some capacity in the elastic tensioners. The small fits my frame but I have the tensioner all the way open. If you are on the fence between sizes I would size up and tension down.

It gets better and BETTER
I love my old adv skin vest, and it's still in great shape so I will keep it around. The new construction is a bit different but I'm LOVING some of the updates. The pocket configuration took some time to get used to, but all of my essentials actually sit well positioned against my body with better stability than the previous version. All of the new materials and fabrics are more comfortable (especially on my shoulders) and the pack definitely feels more stable than it's predecessor. Also, it's a small detail, but the new clips are SO much easier to secure on the go, and they are easier to adjust so I could customize the fit exactly how I wanted it. My favorite pack got even better!

Functional and lightweight, BUT...
I love the fit and functionality of this vest, but it causes neck chafing on long runs. Also, it has ruined several of my running shirts (which can be very expensive!). Several of my running shirts now have pilling and abrasion marks as a result of the friction from the vest material. Disappointing since the vest itself is pricey, and now several of my favorite running shirts are ruined.

Cheap Material. Will Break & Fall Apart.
I've purchased two of these and they both been highly disappointing - Elastic band holding the front water bottle snapped at the drop of a hat. Totally worthless. On the other one, I had a zipper tear in the front pocket rendering the pocket useless. I average about 20 miles per week with this vest.

Love this pack!
I already have one of these packs and love it so much that I got a second so that during long races I can just change out restocked packs at crewed aid stations. It doesn’t bounce while running and it can hold so much gear and extra stuff which is very important to me. And I’m addicted to this new color combo!!
