Why We Like The Iron Ranger 6in Boot
The Iron Ranger Boots have been protecting the feet of miners for more than a century, so we feel good about them protecting ours, too. Oil-tanned leather comprises the upper for added protection, while the leather insole conforms to our foot's natural shape to become more comfortable over time. A steel shank increases both stability and support for long stretches on our feet, and Vibram's 430 mini-lug sole won't crack and lose durability after a few years like all-rubber soles sometimes do.

Best boot ever

Waited way too long to get a pair of these. The reviews about the break-in are accurate, but once they're broken in you'll never want to wear anything else.

Different tongue
This is my 5th pair of Iron Rangers and for the first time, the tongues are significantly different from each other! One has the normal thick material while the other one has a softer, thinner leather. A quick Internet search of this is normal and apparently it is according to a Reddit forum. Weird thing is the other people that encountered this also got theirs from Back Country - Coincidence? I’m still keeping since it’s a good deal and I think it’s legit.

Iron Ranger 8111 Amber Harness Leather
I purchased these about a week ago and honestly I couldn’t be happier. They’ve quickly become my favorite pair of boots. I’m still in break in process but they are already very comfortable. To be fair, I’m using a very thin pair of insoles during break in as I have really sensitive feet and I’m prone to calluses but even without them there boots are comfortable. My furthest walk thus far in them has been two miles and it was pain free. I have them in 10.5 EE and they fit like a glove. No heel slip out movement of any kind. I would definitely buy these again in a heart beat. I had been eyeing these for a while but held back because so many people report horror stories about the break in. Happily that has not been the case for me. I’ve got other boots that are more expensive and they just aren’t nearly as comfortable. One more thing… The QC is excellent. Not a stitch out of place. Can’t recommend them highly enough.

Great boot bad sole
Had these boots for about 4 months I wear them every day and they are the most comfortable boots but the sole is a very big issue for me the stitching came undone around mthe end of month 3 and it’s very disappointing because they are my everyday boot for everything since I wear them about 16 hours a day.

favorite shoes, milage = effort in upkeep!
I have had these shoes since 2018 I where them every single day 8 months out of the year. I lotion and oil them twice a year and the leather is broken in and soft. I wear them in construction, polish them a bit. And where them at more formal events as well. My only advice with these shoes is to NOT wear them wet, as in soaked through sopping. It will permanently warp your fit and cuase damage. They dry our fine and never stink but you will feel the difference in fit after.

Excellent boots
I think they should make a better insole for the boot

Fits like a sock. Ready for the apocalypse.
I bought the copper iron rangers in March of 2021. Loved them so much I bought a second pair (black) in March of 2023 for work. I have since then convinced my friend to buy a pair. Although, I did not have to convince him so much as these boots convince others just by themselves. I have plans on buying a couple more pairs as well. I am looking at getting the green and dark brown pairs. Personally, I am not the kind of person to spend this kind of money on the same product multiple times but...well I will just say...get a pair and you might just make an exception also. These boots are a HORRIBLE experience to break-in. Once they are...they are the most comfortable boots you will EVER wear. They truly mold around your foot like a pair of socks. They are super durable and although people advise against working in them...don't be afraid, they will hold up to construction work. Of course you will need to change out the soles more if you do so though. Not a big deal AND when you get them resoled, if you are using them as a work boot, you can upgrade the soles to a thick tread and make them even more suitable for heavy duty work. The leather is the toughest full grain leather I have ever seen and owned in my life. I have one suggestion to Red Wing though...the laces that come with these boots are so durable and strong and look great. Only problem is, they don't sell replacements and I cannot find laces like these anywhere. Please sell these laces as an add-on for those of us that love them.

Do yourself a favor and get these boots, you will not be! I own two pairs of these redwing boots and they last a lifetime. The quality is unmatched, with a little to no break-in period

11 years in, still get excited to wear them
I bought these over 10 years ago and have put a lot of miles on them. They still look nice and have totally formed to my feet. I have flat, wide feet with fairly significant hammer toe. I typically wear a size 13, and ended up with a size 11 EE and it works. I’ve used the redwing mink oil and leather conditioner over the years and it’s worked well. I bought the amber color and though I do have some blackening on the caps from scuffing and whatnot (and I really haven’t attempted to scrub it off in any significant way) it doesn’t look half bad. I can wear these all day and my feet are just fine. I’ve worn them on vacations where we walked a lot and it was great. the leather is supple and thick. I wanted something I could wear casually or as semi-dress sho e, and got the flat cork soles, and I’ve sometimes wondered if tread would have been nice as they can be slippery in any kind of snowy conditions, but it looks like the new Iron Rangers have some grip built into the treads now, which is probably a nice compromise.
